      Funeral services for Clara Norsworthy Briggs, 87, were held Wednesday,August 28, 1996, in the Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev.Gary Allen officiating. Interment was at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, under thedirection of Warren Meadows Funeral Home.

      Mrs. Briggs passed away Monday, August 26, in Many. She was born inBellwood on December 26, 1908, to Wilson and Jane Hardaman Norsworthy.

      Mrs. Briggs was preceded in death by her husband, Julian E. Briggs.

      She is survived by two daughters, Juanita Elkins and her husband Gene ofMany, Clarice Dowden and her husband Buck of Port Arthur, Tex.; twograndchildren, Glen Dowden of Port Arthur, Tex., and Beth Allen and herhusband, the Rev. Gary Allen of Many; and five great grandchildren,Bradley, Brooke, and Seth Allen, and Glenda, and Patrick Dowden. She isalso survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends.

      Pallbearers were Glen Dowden, Patrick Dowden, Bradley Allen, Tommy JoeCox, Jimmie Rutherford, and Alfice Brumley.
