  John was born about 1766 in Augusta, now Botetourte, County, Virginia.He later moved to Botetourte, now Wythe, County, Virginia about 1770.About 1789 he then moved to Woodford (now Franklin ) County, Kentucky,and on May 21, 1795, married Mary Oldham Thomas. According to "SomeWebster County Families" page 55; John served under General Anthony Waynein the French and Indian Wars and received 50 acres in payment. He isthought to have come to Hopkins County Kentucky around 1810. Hopkins waslater divided out and Webster created. He died about 1848 in WebsterCounty, Ky. Submitted by Michael A.
