Entered 10/6/01. !CENSUS: 1790 Caswell Co., NC, Michael listed, p. 81. 1800 Michael listed in Caswell County, NC, p. 129 1810 Michael and Michael's son, Alexander, pp. 489, 490, 492. 1820 Michael's widow, Jenett, and several sons, pp. 73, 75, 76. Michael named in his mother's will, Caswell Co. Bk B, p.429. 1791 !BIRTH-MARRIAGE-DEATH: Kay Greenway and the following: Information from Isla Montgomery's book BRANCHES OF MONTGOMERY'S AND LONGS & Wm. S Powell, A HISTORY OF CASWELL CO., NC, 1777-1977, pgs 98, 101,352,485. Michael Montgomery was known as Michael, Esquire, being a lawyer and "head justice" of the Caswell County North Carolina Court for many years. He was a member of the law firm of Montgomery & Low. Michael died in 1820 in Caswell County. He left no will, but his estate settlement in April 1820 listed his wife Jennett, sons Alexander andJames, and daughters Elizabeth Montgomery and Mary Howard, Admin. Thomas Gunn. An inventory of his estate indicated that he owned not only necessities but paper money, gold, old book accounts, furniture, etc. Michael is buried by Rattlesnake Creek which flows through the plantation owned by his parents, Alexander and Mary as early as 1759. State records of NC vol 21, pgs 847-848 Thursday December 9, 1790 received petition of Michael Montgomery that the said Michael was a collector ofthe district of Richmond in the county of Caswell in the year 1783. !CONFLICT: Max Eugene Ralls has the name of his wife as Jennet Quine .........................................................................................................................
