  !BIRTH-DEATH: "Peter Burbee", p. 19.."John W. Burba enlisted for a threeyear term in Co. A of the 70th Ohio Volunteer Infantry on 22 Jan 1862 atRipley, Oh. That unit had been formed at West Union, Oh. in 1861 and consisted ofmen chiefly from Adams Co., Oh. On 18 Feb 1862, the 70th Ohio left Ripley for Tennessee where they participated in their first of many battles, theBattle of Shiloh. John may have been too sick to travel however, as he stayedbehind at Ripley and died there some five weeks later of a non-combat relatedillness."
