  Submitted by Carole Montgomery Castleberry, CMS 1637. David Montgomery lived along Davis Creek in Amherst Co, VA (Now Nelson Co). David fought in the Battle of the Meadows, in the Virginia Regiment commanded by young Lieutenant Colonel George Washington. In July 1780 he received a grant of land from the Commonwealth of Virginia for his military service in the French & Indian War. In 1788 David and his family, with their families, sold out and moved to Wilkes Co, GA, David bought land along Kettle Creek in Wilkes County.
