  Moved early in life to Western Pennsylvania. (Crawford County) Soldier in War of 1812 to end of War, listed as a Private on the roll of Capt. John Reed's Company from the official "Roster of Ohio Soldiers in War of 1812", Vol.1, Page 59. Moved to Illinois in 1846 with his son John N., Died in LaSalle County, Ill According to history written and passed down by J.Ivor, his grandson, he was a captain in Kimball's Ohio Militia Volunteers during War of 1812 and was one of 33 refugees from the massacre of "The River Raisin". Also was passed down was that he was a personal friend and counselor of General Harrison.
