      According to history written and passed down by J.Ivor, his grandson, he was a captain in Kimball's Ohio Militia Volunteers during War of 1812 and was one of 33 refugees from the massacre of "The River Raisin". Also was passed down was that he was a personal friend and counselor of General Harrison.
