    • Charles Montgomery is thought to be the same person as J.M.C.Montgomery. He joined the Gilgal Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa County 12 Dec 1829. Land records show him as J.M.C./Charles and James. Charles's great grandson is reported to have been Robert Montgomery and copies of family papers are supposed to be at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa. Maybe the father of Charles was Robert -- check Gwinett Co., 1830-308. Write to Velma Latham Marsh, 306 South Thompson, Monroe, N.C. 28110.
