  !BIRTH-DEATH: Headstone of Andrew Montgomery of Netherhall, Balmachie,at the Banks Cemetery, Kirkcudbrightshire Andrew Mitchell Montgomery died at Nether Hall, Orange, Virginia. Betty Gerdes believed him to be a noted breeder of Clydesdales. I believe she met him, "Drew", during the war - which war I am not sure. Joan and I met his widow, Marion R. Montgomery at Nether Hall in December 1980. She owned a copy of the Hugh Montgomery/Jean Barbour Family Bible, plus portraits of some Montgomery ancestors. Marion said her daughter was interested in the Montgomery family, however when I wrote to the daughter I received no reply. Marion, we think, was never really on to accepting that I was related to her Montgomerys!
