  • Notes 
    • Lady Margaret married Robert first Earl of Winton, Lord Seton. The families of Eglinton and Winton arranged that Alexander, their third son, should enherit the Earldom of Eglinton. A Crown Charter dated 28th November 1611 transferred the Earldom of Eglinton to the Seton family. King James VI considered Alexander an usurper, however after pressure the King issued a Charter dated 24 March 1615, to give the matter an appearance of legality.
