  REF:HISTORY AND ORIGINS OF THE MONTGOMERYS by B.G.MONTGOMERY There are conflicting theories as to whether this Philip was the son of Arnulf and the father of Robert who settled in Scotland. REF: FRAZERS MANUSCRIPTS BROOMLANDS MANUSCRIPTS Authorities conclude that Robert called Mac Cimbric is the son of Arnulf and Lafracoth and that Philip was the brother, not a son, of Arnulf. Robert arrived in Scotland about 1160 at the invitation of Walter Fitz Alan, the High Steward. Eaglesham lands were probably conferred to Robert upon his marriage to Marjorie, daughter of Walter Fitzalan the High Steward.
